Problem
My dad played Guinote almost every day with his uncle, but the app they used felt outdated, had too many ads, and made online play unreliable. I started Guinote+ to build the version I wanted them to have: a cleaner, modern app for playing the game online, offline, and eventually with a physical deck.
What I built
- Built the mobile app foundation with authentication, game state, database-backed flows, player profiles, stats, and core app screens.
- Built real-time online multiplayer, a friends system, private/local rooms, offline mode, tutorials, and a campaign mode around the traditional game.
- Added a shop system with card backs and skins, profile progression, and a real-time audio drop system to make the app feel more complete.
- Implemented Monte Carlo AI for gameplay decisions, improving bot win rate from 32% to 53%.
- Started extending the product into physical card manufacturing, including print specs, supplier coordination, packaging, and launch planning.
Engineering decisions
- Built online and offline play together so the app would still be useful when a real opponent was not available.
- Built gameplay simulation early so the AI opponents would make decisions that felt close to the real game.
- Kept the physical card direction connected to the app from the beginning.
Result
- The project spans the app, multiplayer systems, offline play, tutorials, campaign flow, shop/profile systems, gameplay simulation, product design, and early manufacturing planning.
